Manchester United are set to step-up their attempts to land Brentford star Bryan Mbuemo in a £50million deal after missing out Liam Delap
Manchester United will step-up their bid to sign Bryan Mbuemo in a £50m deal after missing out on Liam Delap.
United had targeted Ipswich forward Delap, 22, but the England forward is poised to join Chelsea after undergoing his medical in London.
So United have turned their attention back to Brentford star Mbuemo – as Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen his squad.
Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in the Cameroon international, who has bagged 70 goals in 242 appearances for the Bees.
But United are growing confident of being able to lure Mbuemo to Old Trafford, with Amorim keen to make the forward an integral part of his future plans.
United have to sell some star names to raise funds, but could be armed with £100m if captain Bruno Fernandes completes a move to Saudi.
The Red Devils have already completed the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, who netted 15 times in 33 league games last term.
And Amorim believes the addition of Mbuemo would give United one of the most feared attacks in the top flight.
The 25-year-old has become one of the most highly rated frontmen in the Premier League.
He finished the 2024/25 season with 20 goals and seven assists for Brentford and is keen on a move to a bigger club.
Delap, meanwhile, has undergone his medical examination and is poised to rubber-stamp his move to Chelsea, who have activated the £30m release clause in the striker’s contract at Ipswich.
