TikToker Sana Yousuf was shot dead in Islamabad’s Sumbal police precincts on Monday.
Sana Yousuf, who belonged to Upper Chitral, was shot dead in G-13/1. According to police, unidentified people barged in her house and gunned her down. The assailants fled after shooting the TikToker.
Sumbal police reached the scene, took Sana’s body into custody and shifted it to the hospital for a postmortem examination.
According to police, Sana Yousuf received two bullets before she died and the bullets were fired by her cousin who was visiting her house. She was shifted to KRL Hospital and Shifa Hospital where she succumbed to her wounds.
Sana Yousuf was an MBBS first year student. Her postmortem examination is under way at the PIMS hospital in Islamabad. Police have recorded initial statements of Sana’s family members and her body would be handed over to her family after her postmortem examination.
In January this year, a man who recently relocated his family from the United States to Pakistan, confessed to killing his teenage daughter over her TikTok activity.
Anwar ul-Haq was charged with murder after admitting to fatally shooting his daughter Hira in Quetta. Initially, he had claimed that unknown assailants were responsible for the killing.
The father, a US citizen, reportedly described his daughter’s social media content as “objectionable.”
Authorities have stated that they are investigating all possible motives, including the potential of an honour-based killing — a phenomenon that, while condemned, remains a concern in parts of the country.
