Chicago — The Tigers announced before the game Monday that center fielder Parker Meadows has been reinstated off the 60-day injured list.
To make room for him on the active roster, outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy was optioned back to Triple-A Toledo.
Also, because Meadows had been on the 60-day IL and needed to be put back on the 40-man, the Tigers designated right-handed pitcher Ryan Cusick, whom they just claimed off waivers from the Athletics on May 30, for assignment.
Meadows, 25, one of the catalysts of the Tigers’ late-season surge into the playoffs last season, had been out since early in spring training with a nerve condition in his upper right arm.
He played in eight rehab games and posted a .394 on-base percentage, a .556 slug and .949 OPS.
Malloy slashed .215/.348/.290 in 45 games this season.
