In 1974, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined forces with Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and then-wife Christine McVie, thus solidifying the rock band Fleetwood Mac. That quintet would go on to capture lightning in a bottle with multiple hit albums, including 1977’s seminal Rumours. However, interpersonal conflict—particularly between on-again, off-again couple Nicks and Buckingham—would eventually tear that lineup apart. Following Christine McVie’s death in 2022, Nicks dashed fans’ hopes of another reunion, flatly stating that “it just wouldn’t work” without their keyboardist. However, a seemingly innocuous post from a California landscape lighter has resurrected those far-flung dreams.
On May 12, Michael Gambino shared a photo to Facebook showing him with “longtime client” Lindsey Buckingham.
“He’s got a new album coming out in the spring of next year along with a documentary about Fleetwood Mac,” Gambino wrote. “I asked if there was a possibility that they would ever perform together again and he said that all depends upon Stevie ( who is also a client of ours).”
Lindsey Buckingham’s Landscape Lighter Accidentally Fuels Fleetwood Mac Reunion Rumors
The post quickly went viral, sparking a flurry of speculation about a Fleetwood Mac reunion. Gambino has since returned to his Facebook page for clarification. “This has gotten a bit out of hand,” he wrote May 22, sharing a link to a Woman’s World article. “And I’m not a landscaper. I’m a landscape lighter.”
The same day, Gambino shared another link to a MSN story headlined, “Fleetwood Mac singer’s landscaper dishes on band’s potential reunion.”
“This post has been taken entirely out of context. However if it results in a reunion of the band then so be it,” he wrote. “Just don’t forget who brought it about. A southern California LANDSCAPE LIGHTER, not landscaper.”
So, Is a Reunion Likely?
Unfortunately, not very. Fleetwood Mac fired Lindsey Buckingham in 2018, which he told People in 2021 “was all Stevie’s doing.”
“Stevie basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go. It would be like [Mick] Jagger saying, “Well, either Keith [Richards] has to go or I’m going to go,’” said the lead guitarist, now 75.
The “Gold Dust Woman” songstress, 77, later denied her ex-boyfriend’s claims in a statement of her own. “I did not demand he be fired,” Nicks said. “Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”
