LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Showers and thunderstorms redeveloped across the southern parts of the Las Vegas Valley Thursday afternoon.
The storms may produce moderate to heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and strong outflow winds. Wind gusts could reach 50 to 60 mph, and quarter-size hail is possible as the storm tracks east.
Under partly sunny skies, temperatures are expected to reach a high of 93 degrees before slowly cooling to 74 as moisture lingers in the area.
Drier air will mix in and move into the region Friday, bringing temperatures closer to the seasonal average near 96 degrees. However, daytime heating combined with residual moisture could trigger another round of showers and isolated thunderstorms. The highest chances for storms remain in the mountains, but light showers could drift into the valley by the afternoon.
Temperatures will continue to climb through the weekend, with highs in the lower deserts rising above 100 degrees. The hottest days are expected to be Saturday and Sunday.
