The Marcus King Band came to Red Rocks in May and took some time to capture a Red Rocks Trail Mix Session just outside the iconic Colorado venue. Guitarist Marcus King and company covered The Allman Brothers Band, performed their latest single and more.
Marcus King Band kicked off their Red Rocks Trail Mix session with a tight, stripped-down version of country-rock stomper “Honky Tonk Hell,” a single that had arrived just a day before the RRX play. The fourth-generation Carolinian musician then gave some history on the King family musical lineage.
Next, King and company offered a gorgeous rendition of an unreleased song, “On and On.” According to SetlistFM, the band unveiled the tune at a concert in Wichita, Kansas the day after the Red Rocks stop.
Marcus then shared some thoughts on Red Rocks. “It’s an honor to be a part of it and stand in such an incredible feat of nature. Feels like the closest thing we have to the Roman coliseums.”
The band wrapped the session with the Allman Brothers Band classic “Ramblin’ Man,” penned by the late Dickey Betts, who King dedicated the performance to. Watch the Marcus King Band’s Red Rocks Trail Mix Session below:
