The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made a significant modification to its official bank holiday calendar. The original plan was for banks in Kerala to be closed today in honour of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha). But the holiday has now been rescheduled in accordance with the local government’s announcement and the official confirmation of the moon sighting.

The Customers should also note that banks across India will remain closed on June 8, 2025, as it falls on a Sunday, which is a regular weekly holiday for all public and private sector banks.

Although June 7, 2025, falls on a Saturday and the first Saturday of the month, which is typically a working day for banks across India, most banks will remain closed due to state-specific regional holidays (Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha)). This means that both scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe a public holiday in several states, even though it does not fall on a standard second or fourth Saturday, which are the usual bank holidays.
