The month of May was mostly a good one for the Phillies as they compiled an excellent 19-9 record. But they certainly didn’t finish the month strong, suffering three straight lopsided defeats. The last two of those defeats were at the hands of the Brewers, who jumped all over the Phillies’ starting pitchers and then piled on against the bullpen.
The Phillies will turn to Ranger Suarez to reverse that trend on Sunday. Since a shaky first start, Suarez has been excellent, and didn’t allow a run in either of his last two outings.
The Brewers will attempt to complete the sweep behind veteran Jose Quintana. The lefthander is in the midst of a strong season, with a 4-1 record and 2.65 ERA.
