Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has once again approved extended hours for booze sales during the Calgary Stampede.
The blanket approval means bars, restaurants and event spaces with liquor licenses will be allowed to start serving liquor at 8 a.m. during the annual 10-day event.
Businesses along the Stampede parade route can start serving liquor at 7 a.m. on parade day, July 4. Also, private events that get approval from AGLC could be allowed to start serving at 6:30 a.m.
Existing licensees do not have to apply for the change, but anyone looking to hold their own public or private special events will need to apply for a liquor licence.
The AGLC has granted the extended hours each year since a pilot project first started it back in 2014.
The 2025 Calgary Stampede runs from July 4 to July 13.
