Housefull 5 will release in two versions: 5A and 5B with different climaxes. Here’s what separates them and why fans are both excited and confused.
In a first-of-its-kind move for a Bollywood comedy, Housefull 5 is hitting theatres this week on June 6, 2025 in two versions: Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. Both versions follow the same story, same characters, and same madness until the final stretch, where the twist lies.
The key difference between the two lies in their climax. The last 15–20 minutes of each version offers a completely different ending, aiming to give audiences a new way to enjoy the film twice.
This unusual strategy was intended to be a fun surprise and a clever way to boost ticket sales by encouraging repeat viewings. However, it has also left many fans confused. With theatres not clearly mentioning which version is playing, some viewers are walking in blind, only to realise later that they might have watched the same version twice or missed the alternative ending.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh commented on X (formerly Twitter), calling the move “innovative but risky,” adding that, “While it builds curiosity, lack of clarity might confuse the common man.” His words reflect the mood of the industry, curious but cautious.
Trade experts are divided. Some appreciate the bold experiment, calling it a fresh take in a formula-heavy industry. Others worry that poor communication about the two versions could impact box office performance, especially if audiences feel misled. Early reactions suggest that both endings carry the franchise’s usual dose of absurd humour, though they might appeal to slightly different comic sensibilities.
As of now, there’s no official confirmation on which version is “better.” The producers seem to be betting on word of mouth and curiosity to drive interest. Whether this double-climax experiment works or not, one thing is clear: Housefull 5 has already made headlines by doing something no other Hindi comedy has tried before.
