Detroit Tigers open up 4-game road set at Chicago White Sox on Monday

The Detroit Tigers open up their seven-game road trip this weekend by taking two of three from the Kansas City Royals, including a narrow 1-0 victory in the final game of the series.

Next up is another American League Central rival — the hated Chicago White Sox — who host the Motor City Kitties for a four-game set this week at Guaranteed Rate Field. AJ Hinch and Co. have won all three meetings so far in 2025, having swept an early-April series in Detroit.

The Tigers hold a 1.5-game lead over both the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets for the best record in Major League Baseball, while also maintaining a six-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians. Just keep winning, guys.

Statistically speaking, the Olde English D is now ninth in the league in batting (.249), 10th in on-base percentage (.321) and ninth in slugging (.404), adding up to a ninth-ranked OPS of .725 on offense. You can see that over the past couple of weeks, the team has been slipping at the plate compared to where they were before.

As far as pitching is concerned, Detroit remains fifth in ERA (3.17) and now third in WHIP (1.16), while also ranking fifth in batting average against (.226), with those numbers improving across the board.
