LOS ANGELES – Francisco Lindor was absent from the Mets’ starting lineup on Thursday after X-rays revealed a broken pinkie toe on his right foot.
The Mets shortstop was drilled in the foot by a Tony Gonsolin slider leading off the game the previous night, but managed to play all nine innings through discomfort.
Lindor said the injury is a pain tolerance issue and he will be evaluated on a daily basis.
“It hurts,” Lindor said. “And even more so when you are wearing shoes.”
Luisangel Acuna started at shortstop for Thursday’s series finale against the Dodgers.
Lindor didn’t rule out the possibility he might be available for a pinch hitting appearance if needed.

Would DH be a possibility for him this weekend in Colorado?
“The way I see it is if I am good enough to hit and run and I should be good enough to play shortstop,” Lindor said. “But at the end of the day I trust the trainers and whenever they think it’s going to be best I will go with that.”
Lindor, 31, is slashing .279/.353/.490 with 14 home runs, 36 RBIs, 10 doubles, 11 steals and 42 runs in 283 plate appearances through 61 games this season.
The Mets won two of the first three games of this series against the Dodgers. They’ll travel to Denver to face the league-worst Rockies this weekend and have an off day Monday before starting a home series against the Nationals on Tuesday.
