Viewers are convinced they’re worked out a plot twist in the forthcoming season
Ginny and Georgia are making a comeback, and fans are already sharing theories about the new season’s twists.
The hit Netflix show debuted in 2021, racking up viral fame, and unveiled its second season in 2023. It chronicles the life of 15-year-old Virginia ‘Ginny’ Miller (Antonia Gentry) alongside her 30-year-old mom Georgia (Brianne Howey).
Georgia, escaping her rocky upbringing, bolts from home upon getting pregnant at 15. In the first season, we see her move to idyllic Wellsbury with Ginny and young son Austin (Diesel La Torraca).
Anticipation has surged following the release of the season three trailer and snapshots in May. Fans keyed into a photo hinting at romance between Ginny’s close friend Abby Littman (Katie Douglas), and ex-boyfriend Marcus Baker (Felix Mallard), catching them in what looks like a deep chat at a skate park.
One eager fan dropped a TikTok clip querying: “Abby and Marcus together in season 3?” Quickly catching the eye of over 300k watchers, it unleashed a torrent of fan theories, reports the Mirror US.
“I mean it kind of makes sense. They’re both going through it. And they will understand each other,” said one show fan.
Someone else contributed: “No wait I get it bc they both are going through it but suffer in silence and they learn they’re both more similar than they thought and get to open up again when [they are with] one another. Stop I’m shipping.”
The characters may not share many commonalities, yet they’ve both grappled with their own mental health battles.
On the flip side, a TikTok user unenthused by the potential pairing asserted: “Nooo I think they are going to get together.”
Another fan shared the sentiment, warning: “If they get together, [I’ll be] so mad I’m gonna throw the remote at the TV.”
A separate fervent viewer declared: “Hell no, Ginny and Marcus for life.”
Despite Ginny and Marcus calling it quits by the season two finale, whispers among fans suggest a reunion might be on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Katie Douglas, who plays Abby, hinted at a major kiss in the upcoming episodes, igniting more rumors about an Abby and Marcus connection.
During a chat with Brit + Co, teased on their TikTok channel, she disclosed: “I got to plant a big kiss on one of my best friends in real life this season, and if you can imagine, it was a dream come true.”
With the video amassing over 5 million views within a mere three days, the comment section is abuzz speculating that Marcus might be the recipient of the kiss, while some reckon it could involve her on-screen BFF Maxine Baker (portrayed by Sara Waisglass).
Netflix viewers don’t have to wait long for the answers, as Ginny & Georgia Season 3 premieres this Thursday, June 5
