Having a story to tell, Oliver Anthony never looked for the riches and fame that came with a life in the spotlight. While country music is full of millionaires, Anthony wanted nothing more than to share his story through music. And with a soul full of lyrics and a finger on the pulse of America, he released his debut hit “Rich Men North Of Richmond.” As the song swept the country, record labels from coast to coast fought to sign the singer, but again – Anthony turned them down. And with the rising star releasing his newest song “Scornful Woman”, those labels are sure to be knocking on his door again.
Sharing the new song on YouTube, the video showed a small cabin in Mercer County, West Virginia back in January. Throughout the song, Anthony powered through lyrics that surrounded a nasty divorce that left a man in shambles. Not wanting the money or fame, the man only wanted a “break from the pain.” With each lyric, Anthony proved once again that true passion can’t be faked or silenced.
Having spent time with Anthony in the past, Joe Rogan decided to share the new song. Although Rogan couldn’t play the song on his podcast, he said, “That’s what I’m talking about. See, that exist. So in the middle of all this honey sugar, sugar s**t you see today – there is still Oliver Anthony.”

Fans Label Oliver Anthony A Gift, Dreamer, Poet, Thinker, And More
Already gaining thousands of views, fans couldn’t get enough of “Scornful Woman” as they agreed with Rogan. Comments read:
“What an awesome, soul clutching song. This is pure and raw, something country music has been sorely missing for decades. Oliver Anthony is a gift.”
“Wow, I’m so glad you signed that music contract with your dog because he ain’t led you wrong. Great song and just like all of your others, you can feel the song deep inside. You have a way with music that hits to the core.”
“Hit the spot mate. You’re a wordsmith, poet, thinker, dreamer, vulnerable. Your pain is palpable brother. Take comfort in the people you really care for/ who care for you”
“Somebody lived or is living this song. Chris? Past, or present? Some of us have lived it with you. That’s why we can tell.”
With “Rich Men North Of Richmond” making Anthony the first singer to land No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart without releasing a previous charted song, it appears that he might find himself No. 1 yet again. And this time, he has a “Scornful Woman” to thank.
