Richie Sadlier is a girl dad! The former football player revealed that his wife Fiona has welcomed their first daughter into the world, bringing their brood up to two little ones.
Born on May 20th, baby Molly is the second child for Richie and Fiona, joining their son Sam, and the long-awaited answer to years of hope and heartbreak in their IVF journey.
Announcing the birth of his daughter, Richie also shared the deeply personal story behind her name, revealing that it had been part of their family’s vocab long before she ever arrived.

The name Molly remained a constant through each stage of their fertility journey, even in their new home, what might have been a spare room was always called ‘Molly’s room.’
He shared: ‘On our good days, long before there was a pregnancy, we wondered what Molly will think of us as parents, and what kind of kid she would be. On our tougher days, during four years of unsuccessful fertility treatment, we questioned whether we’d ever get to meet her.’

Revealing that they kept the name a secret all that time, Richie explained that they only ever planned to share it with others if the child they dreamed of one day came to be. And thankfully, she did.
‘She was born on May 20th, and came home with us three days later, but it honestly feels like she’s been with us for years,’ he shared.
The post has been met with an outpouring of love and congratulations from friends, family and fans alike, many of whom thanked Richie for his openness around fertility struggles.

Author of hit book Poor, Katriona O’Sullivan penned: ‘Wow this made me cry. I’m so so happy for you and Sam and Fiona and all of the people watching you and hoping! Welcome Molly you are a very lucky girl to be so so wanted x’
A fan also penned: ‘Oh Richie, what a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it with us. Molly is so welcome to the world. Aren’t you two wonderful, keeping the faith all these years?’
Congratulations on the birth of your long-awaited Molly, Richie and Fiona.
