The New York Giants‘ offense is expected to look significantly different with an entirely new quarterback room entering the 2025 season, but there’s one constant that remains.
While Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Jaxson Dart make up the trio of newcomers in the quarterback room, the entire offense will flow through superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers, who is coming off nothing short of a sensational rookie campaign.
Despite the vast inefficiencies within the Giants’ offense last season, especially from the quarterback position, Nabers still produced at a high-end level. His 109 receptions were the most ever in NFL history by a rookie wide receiver.
There are several new duos set to take the field across the league next season, and Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports ranked the Wilson-Nabers combo at No. 7.
Russell Wilson was “meh” for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. Sure, he helped lead them to the playoffs, but he was 0-5 down the stretch and averaged just 193.6 passing yards per game in those five contests. Despite how uninspiring Wilson’s addition to New York may be, he’s better than what the Giants trotted out in 2024. As a team, New York finished the 2024 season with a 77.8 passer rating, while Wilson had a 95.6 rating in 11 games played for Pittsburgh during the regular season. That illustrates what should be a tremendous leap in production at quarterback for the Giants, even if the ceiling isn’t particularly high. For Malik Nabers, Wilson coming aboard is an exciting proposition. If the former LSU receiver can total 109 catches and roughly 1,200 yards with the likes of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito throwing him the football, Wilson’s arrival should bring even better production. That’s not even mentioning the natural development he’ll enjoy entering his second season in the league.
It’s true that the player Wilson was with the Steelers was far from what we’ve come to expect from a 10-time Pro Bowl selection. He especially struggled down the stretch of the season, throwing just 10 touchdown passes over his final eight games.
With that said, Nabers is already entering a tier of players that are held in the highest regard. Even if he hasn’t quite reached the level yet, he’s already approaching the tier that includes Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
The Giants offense has a lot to improve upon in this make-or-break season, but Nabers should continue to be a constant catalyst for whoever is under center.
