Well.
Punt lineup doesn’t work…. shocker.
Offense had 3 hits today. In 30 at-bats. 5 total baserunners with the 2 walks drawn. Bad.
They threatened Fried early in the first, but failed to execute a clutch RBI hit.
I love Jhonkensy, but he needs to be in Columbus ASAP. He hasn’t found his swing at all this year, and his at-bats have produced one of the lowest offensive marks (in wRC+) of any hitter in MLB.
Slade was good, save for one bad pitch to Bellinger. The long ball continues to be a problem for him. But, 5 innings of 2-run ball is great.
The bottom of the order (Arias, Naylor, Noel, Wilson) went a combined 0/11 with 4 Ks and a walk. Punting doesn’t work. Stop punting. I don’t want to watch a punt game two-to-three times a week. Putting in Junis in a 2-run game? Bad. Putting in Allard in a 2-run game? Bad! Stop punting. Especially stop punting in rubber matches.
I don’t have much else constructively to say about tonight’s performance. Erase this horrible game from your memory and go win a series against the Astros.
